Peter Peterson of Manistee County's Norman Township was arraigned in District Court in Manistee on open murder and felony firearm charge in 2012 in connection with the disappearance and suspected murder of Vincent Adamczak. In the fall of 2014 Peterson and Knauss were arrested and charged with the killing. They were found guilty in 2015. Peterson has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

According to witnessess Adamczak was killed after an argument turned into a fight. Adamczak had sold Knauss' guns for bail money after Knauss, Adamczak and Skrzycki where arrested on outstanding warrants in Newaygo County.
