  • Details of Disappearance
Lauren Andersen was last seen being picked up by an unknown individual at her parents' home in St. Louis Park, MN at 6:15 p.m. on November 15th, 1981.

Andersen wasn't feeling well that day and was planning to wash her hair and go to bed early. But she ran out to the store for some milk around 5 p.m. and put about $5 worth of gas in her car. When she returned home, she got a phone call that investigators think might have been an arrangement for a friend to pick her up. Around 6 p.m. Andersen walked out the door without saying where she was going. A neighbor remembered hearing a door slam and a dog bark, but no one saw or heard the vehicle officials think took off with her in it.

Andersen left behind her car, toothbrush, clothing and medication for tonsillitis on the day she disappeared. There was no subsequent activity in her checking account.

Lauren had been living on her own for about two years when she moved back in with her parents in early November 1981. She made plans to move in April to live with her older sister, Jeanne, in Austin, Texas.

Lauren was described as as independent and bright. Her interests included motorcycles, pool, rock music, yoga and a vegetarian diet. Her parents believe she had gotten herself into some bad company; but did not know what she was involved in.

    Foul play is suspected.
