Details of Disappearance
On March 10, 2002, at 10.15 pm, Laura Ayala left her home for the Conoco gas Station at 2610 Broadway to buy a copy of the Sunday newspaper for her spring break project.
After several minutes passed her mother went to look for her at the station. The clerk reported that she did come into the store alone, purchased a newspaper and left. Her mother very concerned, contacted relatives who began a search. Family members soon found her sandals and the paper scattered on the route to the store. Houston Police Department was then notified of her disappearance.
In February 2003, drops of blood located in a SUV belonging to the father of a man arrested with two others for six murders were determined to match her DNA. The suspects were very uncooperative when questioned about her case.
