  • Details of Disappearance
David Bacon was last seen on April 10, 1969 as he left for his job. His car was found on Oil Mill Hill the following morning.

Nelson Costello admitted to killing David Bacon in Waterford, NY. Bacon was driving his 1965 Mustang near the Waterford Bridge on April 10th, 1969 when Costello, who was a Waterford Constable, pulled him over and told him that his captain wanted to talk to him. Costello drove Bacon to an area near the public boat launch in Waterford and shot him three times in the chest. Both men were 22 at the time and in love with the same woman, who was Bacon's fiance. As part of his October 2009 plea bargain, Costello stated that Bacon was buried in Virginia along the James River. The remains may have washed out to sea in a 1985 hurricane.
