Details of Disappearance
Martin disappeared 5 years ago from the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows area, on December 28, 2001. He was last seen at his residence in Pitt Meadows. A few days later his vehicle, a 1983 Toyota Supra, blue in color, was located at the Pitt Meadows Airport. An extensive search of the area was conducted by Ridge Meadows RCMP and Search and Rescue but failed to locate anything to indicate the whereabouts of Mr. Balfour. At the time of his disappearance, Martin BALFOUR was 26 years old, weighed approximately 200 pounds and stood 5 feet, 11 inches tall. He had short cropped dark hair and a goatee. He may have been wearing blue jeans, a green long sleeved fleece sweater, a black leather jacket and black work boots. Sgt. Pat Walsh of the Ridge Meadows RCMP detachment said that after two days of searching the bush along the Fraser River with 30 people, dogs and helicopters, he concluded there was little hope of finding Balfour in the immediate area.
