  • Details of Disappearance
Barnes was last seen late in the afternoon at a family member's residence in the vicinity of the 800 block of Little Street in West Point, Mississippi.

The week that Jessie disappeared, the Barnes family suffered the loss of a grandmother. By the time her grandmother's funeral had ended, the family noticed Jessie's absence. It was not usual for Jessie to stay away for a couple of days, but she always came back home.

She was reported missing by her grandmother on July 17, 2000. The week that Jessie vanished she told her sister that a man had threatened her with a knife and ordered her to bring him money. Due to her disability she could not identify the man. She could not remember names or numbers very well.

Little Jessie was known to frequent Al's Cafe, an establishment that has since closed down. Jessie left behind a three year-old daughter.
