Details of Disappearance
Donna was last seen en route to a friend's house in Lexington, North Carolina. She was last seen March 18, 1981, walking along Hemstead Street as she headed to the friendís house.
Several days after she went missing, Donna's father reported her missing. Law enforcement asked him to provide additional information and a photograph. Unbeknownst to Donna's family, he did not deliver a photograph and later told law enforcement not to look for her anymore.
Four years later, Donna's mother learned that authorities had stopped looking for her daughter and took photos and other info to the police. The investigation into Donna's case did not really begin until four years after her disappearance. Both her parents have since died. Donna's sister Anita died at two years old in 1966. Her death has been reclassified as a homicide due to child abuse but no one has been charged in her murder.
