  • Details of Disappearance
Beltran was last seen leaving Bellbottoms nightclub in North Richland Hills, Texas at approximately 1:00 AM on September 9, 2000 accompanied by Mario Alberto Prieto. Beltran had met Prieto for the first time that night. Prieto and Beltran may have gone to his Euless apartment after leaving the nightclub. Friends of Ms. Beltran, who was working as an au pair at a Southlake home, reported her missing two days later. A search of Mr. Prieto's home in the Bear Creek Apartments in the 2000 block of State Highway 360 showed signs that a violent struggle had occurred. A search with police dogs around Mr. Prieto's apartment yielded no information.

Prieto was shot and killed by police September 12 after being tracked to San Antonio. Beltran's body was not found, but her blood, identified through DNA, was located in the apartment of Mario Prieto. A photo of Prieto is posted below.
Foul play is suspected in her disappearance.
