Details of Disappearance
Madeline Benitez, was last seen by coworkers on October 29, 2011 in the area of Clares Street and 41st Avenue in the City of Capitola. A friend reported her disappearance on November 8, at which point it had been nine days since she had last shown up at a part-time job she held in Capitola.
Officers completed a search of Ms. Benitez’ apartment and did not find any obvious signs of foul play. Benitez had marked off each day on her calendar but the last mark was on Oct. 29.
Ms. Benitez has a history of mental illness, and has not been taking her prescribed medication. Ms. Benitez may be in the company of an acquaintance named “Randy,” who is believed to be homeless and who frequents the City of Capitola. He is described as a white male adult in his mid 50’s, 5’-08’’ to 5’-10’’ tall, with a slender build and a brown/grey beard.
Benitez lives at the Redwood Commons apartments, worked one day a week at a Burger King restaurant and attended church every Sunday. Sne is originally from New York City.
