Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
Althea and her son, Jeffrey had made plans to travel to Greece to meet Althea's parents who were already there on vacation. Glenn Bagley, the Blankinships' landlord, said he'd taken them to Sea-Tac Airport to catch a plane to Greece. There was no record of them flying, and Althea's passport for herself and her son was not used. It was left behind among her things. Althea was having a romantic relationship with Bagley at the time. A previous ex-wife of Bagley, Esther Mae Gesler, disappeared in 1976.
Family members became concerned when it was evident that mother and son never arrived in Greece. They have not been heard from or seen since. Officers at the time never fully investigated the missing persons case.
When they disappeared, Althea Blankinship was 23 and preparing to take a Civil Service exam. Her son was 3. Investigators have Althea's DNA and also DNA from Jeffrey's father, who died years ago and was not a suspect.
