  • Details of Disappearance
Unknown. Randy was last seen at his place of employment approximately 7:10am in the vicinity of the 2200 Block of Paper Mill Rd. in Florence, SC. It is beleived that he returned to his residence in the vicinity of the 4100 block of Old Georgetown Rd. Investigators found his Isuzu Rodeo abandoned at Bluff Landing, off Old River Road in Pamplico. Subsequent searches of Bratschi's vehicle, as well as his Old Georgetown Road residence, gave no indication that he had suddenly decided to take an extended trip. Since 54-year-old Randy Bratschi disappeared in late 2004, searches covering the air, ground and water have yielded no definitive evidence of what might have happened to him. Bratschi's failure to take his diabetes medication with him only cast further doubt on the circumstances of his departure. Officers have scoured local waterways, an area next to his home and a wooded area off Hicks Road determined to be of interest, but have found no trace of Bratschi. Authorities in January 2005 also conducted an inch-by-inch search of land near the intersection of Old Georgetown and Friendfield roads, also known as Coward's Crossroads. Bratschi, the victim of an aggravated assault in late October 2004, was last seen leaving his job at Smurfit-Stone Container in Florence on the morning of Nov. 26, 2004. Police suspect foul play, and his case is being handled as a possible homicide.
