  • Details of Disappearance
Brewer and her boyfriend, Nicholas Travis, disappeared the night of April 26-27, 1998. Around midnight, they left a Shawnee apartment occupied by Tabitha's father and stepmother. With Tabitha and Nick in the vehicle that night was Brandon Howell, a high school acquaintance of the teens. He had come to drive them on an errand. Howell told authorities that he dropped Brewer and Travis off at the Circle K convenience store near 75th Street and Interstate 35.

Travis and Brewer's identification and Brewer's burned purse, were discovered in a dumpster on the corner of 55th Street and Paseo Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri, three days after they vanished.

In August 1999, Travis's body was discovered buried in a back yard close to where the couple's belongings were located, but no signs of Brewer were found.

A Jackson County jury in 2009 acquitted Brandon B. Howell in the killing of Johnson County teenagers Tabitha Brewer and Nick Travis. Several witnesses who testified at trial said Howell implicated himself in the killings. But after hearing the evidence, the Jackson County jury found Howell not guilty of the charges.

Foul play is suspected in Brewer's disappearance.
