    • Details of Disappearance

    Last seen setting sail from Dana Point to San Diego, California. Bunker's sailboat, "Bug Trap", was found in January 2008 some 19 miles off the eastern coast of Kauai, Hawaii, with minor fire damage. His laptop, clothing, and other possessions were within the cabin but there was no sign of Bunker. The Hawaiian authorities noted there was no sign of foul play. Mr. Bunker's family had not been in touch with him in a couple of years. He left Michigan in 2005, telling at least one family member that he wanted to disappear and be left alone. His family was not aware that he was in California or had any interest in sailboats.
