Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
Jake was last seen March 31st in the evening. He dropped a friend off in downtown Traverse City, Michigan after playing frisbee golf. But Cabinaw never returned to the Grawn house he shared with his mother. After midnight, he made a cell phone call to an automated number to confirm his student status, a requirement for GI Bill funding. His bank card was used at 2:12 a.m. on April 1, 2010, to buy gas in Mattawan. Family members said gas station video clearly shows Cabinaw.
His 2002 Silver Chevy Malibu License Plate #BKQ 4107 has minor damage on the passenger front panel and is also missing.
Jake is drug free and a family man. He took classes at Northwestern Michigan College, served in the National Guard and worked as a mechanic at a local car repair shop.
Cabinaw's family received an insufficient funds notice after two purchases were made on his bank card in April, at a gas station in Fort Worth, Texas, and a convenience store in Sweetwater, Texas. The transaction made in Sweetwater was on April 3, and was the last charge made with that card.
