Details of Disappearance
Amanda Carroll was last seen on May 1 at her Greenwood Place home. Her husband reported her missing the next day after returning from an overnight trip with their two children to his parents' house in New York.
In the morning hours of May 2, 2000, Amanda Carroll chatted over the Internet with a friend in Texas about her life and imminent plans to move to Arizona with her two young children. She sounded optimistic and offered no signs that she was going to run away. She went to bed around 6:30 a.m., shortly after making a call to another friend in Canada. Again, she was upbeat about moving to Arizona to live with her father. That was the last time anyone heard from Carroll.
Amanda Carroll was not in trouble with the law and some of her belongings were gone from the house. The couple had been living in their rented home for about six months. Amanda Carroll didn't have a car and spent a lot of time in Internet chat rooms.
Police checked some of the contacts Amanda made through the chat rooms.
They concluded those people were not suspects.
Police have interviewed cab, limo and bus drivers, who said they did not pick up Amanda Carroll.
Foul play is suspected.
