  • Details of Disappearance
Florence Coker was last seen on July 18, 1981. According to her husband, Sam Coker, on July 18, 1981, he and Florence had a disagreement and he left their residence. Upon his return a short time later, Florence was gone, apparently leaving in her 1978 Chevrolet Malibu.

She was reported as missing by her husband on July 20, 1981.

The last time anyone spoke to Florence, other than her husband, was the day before her disappearance. On that day (July 17, 1981) she was seen with her husband by at least two different witnesses.

During a follow-up with Sam, detectives discovered Florence’s 1978 Chevrolet Malibu was back at her residence. When questioned about the vehicle, Sam said he had located the vehicle in a parking lot in St. Petersburg.

Information received by police showed Florence would not be gone for any length of time without notifying some family member.

Since there was no body and Sam insisted that she ran away along with the fact that Sam got a restraining order against the Sheriff's office, there was no search of the house until 1 1/2 years later. Police found blood spatter patterns and the outline of Florrie's body in the house.

There has been no charges in the case. Florence has never been located. She left behind a child from her first marriage.
