Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
Timothy left his residence on West Colorado Avenue on June 20, 2014 to attend a 0900 am group therapy session. He was traveling by bus and apparently missed his connection at the bus terminal. While there, he called his girlfriend, Anna Mitchell, and stated he would instead be coming back to the residence. But he never arrived. This was the last known contact with Timothy. Concerned about his declining health, Mitchell reported Copley missing to the Sheriff's Office.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at the place where Copley often stayed at the time. They found Anna Mitchell dead from a methamphetamine overdose.
On April 30, a multiple-jurisdiction search for Copley took place at the Red Canyon Open Space, a popular hiking area he was known to frequent. There was no sign of him.
Tim had been in and out of jail for various offenses, including burglary and assault, according to court records. He had apwnt time in the army. He lived and traveled across America, and didn't stay anywhere long. Tim didn't have a car, but he was always moving. He owned a mountain bike, but mostly traveled by public transportation.
