Details of Disappearance
Mr. Cottrell was last seen in late 2005 in Nanamino, British Columbia. In the summer of 2005 Cottrell was in a motorcycle accident in the North Island, and was left a paraplegic. After being treated and going through rehabilitation, he was released in a wheelchair. It was shortly after that that he was last seen. Court records reveal that Cottrell was before courts on drug-related charges a number of times between 2002 and 2005. He was last charged in August 2005 on three counts of possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking and a warrant remains outstanding in that case. He also has a history of violence, robbery, and hostage taking. Police are confident that Cottrell is not hiding or has not moved. They believe there's a possibility of foul play. He was involved in the drug trade. In April 2008, police searched the area of Mount Sicker, near Chemainus reguarding the disappearance of Cottrell. They are not saying what lead them to search that area or what they found, if anything, but again said they believe foul play is involved.
