  • Details of Disappearance
Donella was last seen on December 18, 1979 in Pasadena, CA. She vanished carrying just $50 and a credit card which was never used. When Coultas vanished she left behind a 2-year-old, her husband and family. She did not take her purse or wedding ring.

According to her husband the couple got into a fight. when it escalated, he said she picked up a rock and hit him. He ended up with a cut lip. She ran out and threw her ring. The argument apparently stemmed from a hunting trip. The husband left on the trip two days before his wife disappeared without asking for Jeannie's approval. He reported her missing to South Pasadena police the morning of December 19. Coultas has said he doesn't know why his wife would leave and not come back.

Just prior to her disappearance, Coultas told a friend she was tired of fighting and was going to leave her husband. South Pasadena police treated the case as a missing person's case for nearly two years. In 1981 it was transferred to Sheriff's homicide. Foul play is suspected.
