  • Details of Disappearance
    Cowan was last seen at her residence in Oak Forest RV Park in Austin, Texas on January 14, 2001. Cowan vanished leaving behind a trail of blood.

    Evidence at a house in Kingsland indicates Shirley Cowan was the victim of a violent crime.

    In July 2007 Shirley Cowan's son-in-law, Thomas James Negri, was convicted of 1st degree murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison. He was helping build Shirley a new house when she disappeared. During a search of her house police pulled up the carpet and discovered a huge streak of white paint leading from the living room to the bedroom closet. The paint contained trace amounts of the victimís blood.
