  • Details of Disappearance
On April 25, 1996, Dawson's roommate had stayed up talking with Dawson until 11:30 p.m. When the man woke up the following day, Dawson was gone from his home on Route 38 in Sterling and has not been seen since. Dawson's bed did appear to have been slept in, but all of his belongings were left behind.

Dawson was first reported missing to the sheriff's office. He is believed to be deceased because there have been no confirmed sightings or contact with him since the missing person's report was filed. Detectives on the case said Dawson had been diligent about staying in contact with his family prior to the disappearance.

An unconfirmed sighting placed Dawson on the Nichols Road Bridge near Martville at 7:30 a.m. April 26, 1996. He was also reportedly seen on a bridge in Oswego, about 20 miles from his home.

At the time of his disappearance Dawson lead a semi-transient lifestyle and had no permanent address and no vehicle. Foul play has been rumored, but has never been confirmed by detectives.
