  • Details of Disappearance
Jesus was last seen at about 6:00 p.m. on September 28, 1996, walking with a friend on Park Street in the Commons area of Lynn, Massachusetts, near his family's residence. Jesus was pushing his pink Huffy bicycle, which had flat tires at the time. He was on his way home after playing in Bennett Circle.

Jesus's friend told authorities that they were approached by an unidentified white man in his twenties or thirties with shoulder-length black hair. The man was walking with a shepherd/collie dog with one white eye and one brown eye. His friend said that the individual lured Jesus away by promising him a new bicycle.

According to a recent article in The North Shore Sunday, "Jesus and the man — who was soon identified as Robert Levesque, who also lived in the neighborhood — walked down Park Street and turned the corner onto Western Avenue. And that was the last anyone saw of Jesus...The day after De La Cruz disappeared, police arrested Levesque at his parents’ home in Lowell and held him on an unrelated stolen vehicle charge. They searched his car and his Lynn apartment and found duct tape, handcuffs and the dog that Edwards had seen him walking the night before. But none of those items revealed any evidence that could be linked back to Jesus. Levesque denied that he knew anything about the missing child and Edwards was unable to pick him out of a photo lineup. Still, Levesque was held for several weeks and named as a suspect in the case before he was eventually freed."

Jesus has never been located and his disappearance remains unsolved.
