  • Details of Disappearance
Delawder was last known to be with her mother, Gertrude Menacher, her boyfriend Ivan Guterrez and Menacher's boyfriend Charles Gibson, after meeting for a dinner engagement.

All of them disappeared on March 7, 1981 and have not been seen or heard from since.
Gibson's Cadillac was found in a parking lot at Miami International Airport about a week later. His Miami Shores apartment was cleaned out. He and the three others have never been found.
Joann was married at the time, but had left her husband and was living with Gutierrez in Hallandale. She had found a steady job as a masseuse at a beachfront hotel.

Police has linked the disappearance of the four, as well as that of a 17-year-old Fort Myers prostitute, to the January 21, 1981 execution of drug gang enforcer and prison escapee Harvey McElroy. McElroy's body was found in the woods at Pines Boulevard and 160th Avenue. He had been shot, soaked with gasoline and burned on a heap of trash.
Warrants were out for Menacher and Gibson on charges of aiding McElroy, who escaped from Florida State Prison in Starke on August 5, 1980. They helped rent a $600-a-month home in Hollywood for McElroy.
