Details of Disappearance
Elaine Ann Dhaemers' family last heard from her in April 2003 when she was getting
off a bus in Phoenix. The art student came to the Valley that month to get away from
her Minnesota hometown's harsh winters. The last known traces of Dhaemers were a
backpack and other items found on a remote hiking trail in South Mountain Park.
The property, including Dhaemers' Minnesota driver's license and a small amount of
money, were turned in to Phoenix police in June 2003. A woman's blouse and shoes
also were found scattered nearby. Police searches have failed to find any further
traces of Dhaemers.
