  • Details of Disappearance
Mary was last seen at approximately 3:30pm in the vicinity of US Highway 278 and SC Highway 19 traveling westbound toward Barnwell, SC.

Although doctors believe the elderly woman was in the early phases of Alzheimer's, she hadn't been diagnosed with the disease prior to her disappearance. The family had taken her to see a doctor weeks prior with concerns about her forgetfulness, but the doctor told Annie Dixon her mother would have to see a specialist. The family made an appointment, but Mary disappeared before that.

It was the first time she had ever walked off.

Mary's husband died in 1970, leaving her widowed with five children. She raised the children on her own and helped raise her grandchildren.
