Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
Jonathan Dorey, an exchange student from Guernsey, England, was last seen March 2, 2010 on video surveillance leaving on his dorm with his mountain bike. Bank records show his debit card was used to make a purchase at the 7-11 at Harrison and Main, just a couple of blocks from his dorm. Virginia Commonwealth University Police received a report indicating a witness reported seeing a person resembling Jonathan swimming in the James River on the day he disappeared. About three weeks after his disappearance, some of Jonathans personal belongings including a backpack with undisclosed contents, clothing and a liquor bottle were reportedly located in a hollow area under a large concrete pad beside the James River in the area the witness reported seeing the man swimming. Authorities using sonar scoured the river but nothing was located in the water. Jonathan is an avid cyclist and his bicycle, which has not been recovered, is described as a single-speed bicycle with an Azonic Steelhead frame, an SDG Bel-Air seat, Race Face lock-on grips, DMR V8 pedals and Kenda tires. Jonathan's mother believes her son was depressed at the time of his disappearance and she feels that he may have committed suicide. VCU Police are still investigating his disappearance and declined to comment about the mothers theory.
