    Michelle's 1973 red Oldsmobile Omega car, was found abandoned at 3700 Fall Creek Parkway with the keys in the vehicle, the fuel tank empty. A witness saw someone walking away from the car in the rain, but they weren't sure if it was Michelle.

    The 23-year-old art student and part-time model had left her home about 8 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 1978.

    Michelle left behind her blue denim purse, containing her identification, driver's license and $2 in change. She also left behind a paycheck at Castleton Square, where she was a cashier in the Sears auto store.

    Someone who looked like Michelle was seen later in a shopping center parking lot selling pins shaped like little animals. The pin money was for the Unification Church. Michelle had attended the church operated in Indianapolis by James Jones.
