Details of Disappearance
On September 22, 1981, Churchill RCMP received a call from Mrs. Esmoil advising her two sons, and two friends were late on returning from a canoe trip. On August 18, 1981, Brian Dean Esmoil, his brother, and two friends headed out on an extended canoe trip from Leaf Rapids to Churchill. Numerous items, belonging to the men were found on shore. The bodies of three of the four travellers were recovered and death was due to drowning. The body of Brian Esmoil has never been recovered and it is presumed he drowned.
