  • Details of Disappearance
    Fugate is missing since January 13, 1980, 2:30 PM. He walked toward the entrance of Monument, 45 miles from Mexican Border and vanished. A park employee is said to have seen him slumped between two men in a pick-up headed North around 4:00.

    All objects in his possession accounted for except uniform and keys. Subsequent investigation has declared this a homicide. His body was never found.
