Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
Rachael was last seen at a neighborhood store, Rowe's Corner Market, at approximately 9:00 p.m., after she bought a pack of cigarettes and gum. She was supposed to meet friends at a home on Main Street, but was never seen again. She left behind her horse, her dental retainer and other prized possessions. She was a student at Sanborn Regional High School in Kingston at the time.
In 2008, after receiving a tip, investigators scoured Ice Pond and Country Pond for clues to the teen’s disappearance. Both searches came up empty. In July 2008, they spent more than six hours using sonar and a Global Positioning System to examine Ice Pond’s bottom in search of clues. A decade after Garden disappeared, a tip from an informant prompted the excavation of a 60-square-foot section of woods in Newton.
