  • Details of Disappearance
Gillis was last seen on foot walking on State Route
3 near the Franklin and St Lawrence County line walking towards the Town of Piercefield. Early on March 10, 2012, Mr. Gillis had been at party. There was an argument that escalated into a large fight. Friends urged him to leave with them as teenagers started brawling. Mr. Gillis refused and stayed. Mr. Gillis eventually left the party alone and tried contacting a friend by phone in an attempt to reach another friend who lived west of Tupper Lake. He had returned on a break from his freshman year in college to the place he had grown up. Mr. Gillisís relatives said it took 30 to 60 minutes for the authorities to respond to the sighting, near the border of Franklin and St. Lawrence Counties. By the time a state trooper arrived, Mr. Gillis was gone. All that was ever found were his driverís license and a tobacco pipe.
