  • Details of Disappearance
Patricia Girou were last seen on June 11, 1975.

On June 16, 1975 Girou's son came by his parent's residence to take them out for father's day. He had tried unsuccessfully to reach them by telephone over the weekend to get a time for dinner. No one was home, the house was locked up. Inside the house was neat and clean. Girou's money, wallet, purse, and car keys were in the bedroom. Their vehicles were in the garage. He saw that the windows and garage were unlocked and that the family dog had not been fed for several days - behavior that would have been unacceptable to Jack Girou. They were reported as missing by their son on June 16, 1975.

According to their daughter, the couple got dressed that morning to go to a funeral. Husband and wife supposedly left in a green limousine.

Thorough searches were conducted in neighborhood, backyard, and some property that the victims had purchased for a retirement home. Girou had just signed a contract to teach the following year. The couple left behind two jobs, two cars, two uncashed paychecks, four children and 10 acres they had just bought for their dream home.

Police ruled out a number of possible scenarios for an abduction: no evidence of drug abuse or drug-dealing, no financial problems or dealing with loan sharks and no connection to any criminal elements. The Girous have been declared legally dead. Foul play is suspected.
