Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
John was last seen on Friday, January 12, 2007. He lives in Marmora, NJ.
He piloted his boat out in the bay of Ocean City, NJ. The boat was docked at Seaview Marina.
The boat is a 21' 1983 Privateer Center Console, called "White Whale,' with a 225 HP Johnson engine, NJ registration 4813TA.
He was last seen refueling the boat at the Seaview Harbor Marina in Longport. He was reported overdue to the U.S. Coast Guard.
No flares or distress message were reported.
A fishing trawler spotted the boat - adrift and unmanned - about 90 miles off Manasquan Inlet.
The Coast Guard dropped a strobe light to the trawler, which placed it on the White Whale to aid in its recovery.
But the storm-tossed boat broke apart that night in 10-foot seas and heavy winds.
When the Coast Guard cutter Dependable based out of Cape May came upon it, all that was left was part of the wheel housing.
The rest of the boat is believed to have sunk.
Glenn retired January 1, 2006, after 30 years in the Ocean City Fire Department.
Friends said he spends much of his free time on the water fishing, clamming and crabbing.
