  • Details of Disappearance
Giovanni was last seen on August 15, 2008 at approximately 4:00 p.m. Giovanniís mother dropped the 5-year-old off for a weekend with his father, but he never returned the child. When she went to pick him up two days later, Gonzalez denied ever seeing the boy. Several witnesses at the Lynn Behavioral Clinic confirmed seeing Giovanni on August 16, 2008, while accompanying his father to a scheduled appointment. The two were seen together between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The boy's father, Ernesto Gonzalez Jr., has pleaded not guilty to charges of parental kidnapping and misleading police related to the disappearance. In a jailhouse interview with the Globe in November 2008, he confessed to killing Giovanni. Authorities, so far, have no evidence to corroborate the confession by Gonzalez. He said he stabbed the boy to death, dismembered his body, and dumped the remains in different garbage bins in Lynn. Detectives investigating the disappearance of Giovanni found the boy's blood throughout his father's Lynn apartment.

He may still be in the local area or may have traveled to Puerto Rico.
