Details of Disappearance
On August 24, 1978, Maxie Graham was reported missing from his home in Pinewood, SC. Investigators believe that Graham may have left his home on August 8, 1978 with another man identified only as ScottĚ. They may have been in a two-tone pick-up truck.
Left behind was his keys, vehicles, money, a house that was paid for, his own business and his dog.
Graham had gone to Furman High School, where he was active in basketball and track. He lost his parents in two accidents 12 days apart when he was a high school senior. He lived with his sister's family afterwards.
Graham attended North Greenville Junior College in 1970 and recieved a certificate in Associate in Arts and General Studies. He later attended Georgia Southern College in June of 1973 and achieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He then moved back to Pinewood, and opened his own tree service business. He had a house that was paid for along with new vehicles that were left behind.
When his sisters went to his house, after they realized he was missing, it was spotless. They found around $750 in checks made out to Grahamís Tree Service. When they went back a second time the house had been trashed.
The family put up a $5,000 reward, but still heard nothing more about the disappearance.
Two persons of interest in the case has since died.
