  • Details of Disappearance
Jael Hamblen was last seen in her Trailside Loop apartment in South Anchorage on October 11, 2014. She told her roomate she was considering going out. When her roomate woke up at noon the next day, Hamblen wasn’t home. Hamblen took her purse and phone, but she left her car.

It’s unclear whether Jael was using dating apps the night she disappeared. It is known that she was upset about a guy who’d rejected her and was looking for some company. At one point she texted a friend, saying she was on the verge of tears, hoping to get together. According to phone records, their last exchange was at 1:40 a.m.. Friends say she then exchanged texts with a JBER soldier a little after three in the morning. And that was that last anyone heard from her.

She left behind her infant son, who was visiting with his grandmother at the time Jael went missing. When nothing had been heard from Jael by October 14, 2014, her mother filed a missing persons report. Jael's purse was discovered by two hikers near a Chugiak-area trail in March 2015. In the purse was her Social Security card and phone.

Foul play is suspected. No suspects have been named and no arrest made in Jael's disappearance. Jael is described as very trusting.
