Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
Dean Heagerty eft his parents' East Sixth Street house in Oswego about 6 p.m. to go for a short walk and never returned. He was believed to be hitchhiking shortly before being reported missing to authorities. Additional reports suggested that he may have been attempting to travel to Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, in order to contact a relative in the area.
In the later part of November 1976 there were unconfirmed reports that a person matching the physical description of Dean may have been seen in the Pennsylvania area.
At the time of his disappearance, Dean was reported to have been suffering from some degree of memory loss. Heagerty had been in the Bunner Street mental health care facility.
Over the past several years, the Oswego City Police Department has developed a DNA profile based upon family member DNA submissions which have been compared to numerous databases across the country but to no avail.
