  • Details of Disappearance
    Hersey left the Abbey Lane Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, on January 28, 2006 at about 8:30 p.m. on a 20 minute pass, to smoke a cigarette. She left her money and cigarettes behind, and the hospital had the keys to her apartment. According to The Chronicle Herald, "[Her daughter] said she spoke to her mother about an hour after she left the hospital. The call was from an Almon Street address where she had apparently gone to use the phone. She said they only spoke briefly and she had difficulty understanding what her mother was saying."
