Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
Diane Hopson was reported missing from her home on November 20th, after her daughter couldn't reach her by phone and came to the house and found evidence
of a struggle and blood at the scene, but couldn't find her mother. Diane's cell phone, car, keys and purse were left behind. Due to the amount of blood
found on the back porch, investigators do not believe Diane could have survived.
In December 2007, a Mabank man was charged and eventually indicted with her murder. He admitted to being in Diane's home the day of her disappearance,
which is believed to be on the 18th. Neighbors claim to have heard and argument come from Diane's home. Investigators found evidence in his vehicle
linking him to the crime.
Van Zandt County Sheriff's Department, Texas Rangers, Smith County Investigators and Texas Game Wardens have conducted several searches in areas where
the suspect was known to fish and hunt, but have yet to find her body.
Neighbors described Diane as "incredibly kind, helping anyone who needed it. She would bring people in to get them on their feet."
