Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
Kael Johnson was last seen on February 15, 2013. At approximately 2 a.m. he was captured on surveillance video at the local 7-Eleven withdrawing money, buying cigarettes and a Snapple.
Johnson and his roommate shared a 2004 Dodge Ram pick-up truck. On February 14, after texting his mother, Johnson told his roommate he was heading out in the silver pick-up to celebrate the end of classes. Since then, there has been no sign of Johnson, no texts, no phone calls, no credit card use, and no contact with his roommate.
His truck was found abandoned at a nature preserve, Wetlands Park, almost two weeks after his disappearance. Johnson’s new iPhone and wallet were found inside the truck and there appears to be no signs of a robbery. The morning of the 15th, his truck was caught on surveillance video entering Wetlands Park before 8 a.m. The face of the driver is not visible.
Volunteers and police combed through Wetlands Park, searching by helicopter, by horseback and on foot for any sign of Johnson.
Johnson recently moved to Las Vegas from North Carolina to enroll in a dental program and was seemingly excited about his future. He planned to enroll in the next set of classes, but the school has no indication he tried to sign up or contact the program since he vanished. Kael is known as an outdoorsman.
