Details of Disappearance
Maureen Kelly, of Vancouver, left her group of friends at Canyon Creek Campground, in Gifford Pinchot National Forest, on foot. She advised she was going on a spiritual quest and left wearing no clothes and only a fanny pack. She was last seen heading towards the woods in a creek on 6/9/13 at about 17:00 hours.
She was reported missing by friends in the early hours of the following morning 6/10/13.
Search crews have scoured the area, some 60 miles northeast of Portland, and think she may have crossed a creek to climb to the other side of the canyon. Her tracks stopped after a paved road. A search dog tracked Kelly’s scent across a creek, but that scent ended at a nearby road. The area is steep and extremely forested, making the search difficult.
