Klama played darts with an unknown male at Spinter's Sports Bar on November 5, 1998 in Palatine, Illinois. According to witnesses, he was hanging out with an unknown male, and left with the male subject. He left the bar at approximately 12:00 a.m. and was possibly seen getting out of a small light colored car near his apartment. Klama was carrying approximately $40.00 from an automated teller machine (ATM) withdrawal conducted earlier during the evening of his disappearance. Klama exited with his keys, wallet and cordless phone but left his car behind. Two calls were made to Klama's cordless phone that night Ė one from a payphone at the Shell gas station at Lake-Cook and Rand roads and one from a payphone outside Jewel food store at Hicks and Dundee. Investigators were not able to obtain any video footage of those calls being made.

He was a maintenance worker and resident at the Fox Fire apartment complex near Rand and Hicks roads at the time. Klama was also a night watchman. Klama was a known heavy drinker, was single with no children but had a big family and always spoke to someone everyday. He didnít have any credit cards and was not the type of person to pack up and leave. Klama had no known enemies.
