Details of Disappearance
On the night of August 7, 1974, Rhonda was visiting her mother's house on Andover Street in Lawrence. She shared dinner with her mother, 10-year-old sister and her mother's boyfriend. Around 8 p.m. Rhonda decided that she was going to return to her apartment on 15 Sidney Street in Lowell. She was living in Lowell, with her boyfriend, her brother, Ricky, and a couple of their friends. When Rhonda decided to leave she told her family she was going to hitchhike home and left the apartment at around 8 p.m., something she had done many times before. That's the last time Rhonda was ever seen. No one saw her get into a car.
The following morning, after Rhonda failed to return home, her boyfriend and her mother, who has since died, reported her as a missing person. Initially, her case was treated as a runaway. Six months before she disappeared, Rhonda left to live with a singer in a rock band in Pennsylvannia for a month.
Roland and Louise Labbe lived in Billerica for years raising their children. Both parents worked at the Concord Shores restaurant, Roland working as a bartender and Louise as a hostess. Rhonda attended Locke Middle School in Billerica from 1968 to 1970. She grew up on Intervale Street. Rhonda, a Billerica native, left behind her paycheck from her job at Paris Shoes and her clothes. Foul play is suspected.
