Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
Lorraine Legault was three years old when she disappeared from the front yard of a house on Jeanne-Mance street in Mile-End on June 25, 1979.
Legault was playing in front of her grandfather's home when she disappeared. He went inside to make a coffee and when he came back out, she was gone.
She lived with her grandparents René and Reine Legault while her parents were sorting out some issues. Under a polygraph test administered by police, the mother said she had received offers to buy the child. The father refused to take a polygraph test. Police speculated at the time that the most likely reason for her disappearance was that she was possibly sold to foreigners.
