Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
Christine was last seen in the early morning hours of January 10, 1993 going into her apartment on Elizabeth Street in Oneida with her partner, Tracy Taber. Witnesses told police that on that day, Tracy Taber and Taber’s father, were seen moving boxes from a rented room the couple shared there. Markey and Taber were in the process of finding a new place to live and were moving out. Markey was seen by witnesses going into the room, but not coming out.
Markey and Taber had what could be described as a turbulent relationship. The pair had been dating for three to four years at the time of Markey’s disappearance, and were often seen fighting.
Around the time of her disappearance, Markey was spending time with a man named Robert Mailloux. Mailloux last saw Markey on January 9, when they walked to a bar on Phelps Street in Oneida. Taber allegedly pulled up in a car and picked Markey up.
Through the years, Mailloux and Taber have been people of interest in the case, but no charges have ever been filed.
Markey never picked up her last paycheck from Oneida Ltd. and has never again used her Social Security number.
Christine grew up on West Elm Street in Oneida. Markey was studying business and real estate at Morrisville State College. Markey’s parents had always had rental properties and that interested her.
