Details of Disappearance
There have been several reported sightings of Daniel in the area, the most recent being from a man who picked Marks up hitchhiking on Nov. 19.
Marks told the man he was going to go to Kalalau State Park, but from a nearly impossible way -- from the cliffs overlooking Kalalau, a steep, treacherous climb through thick
vegetation with an elevation change of nearly 5,000 feet.
Numerous searches have been performed to no avail.
Daniel checked out of a hostel on November 10, 2005 to go camping.
He was to leave Kauai on November 16, 2005 but never showed up for his flight.
He has not called or contacted anyone in his family since November 10, 2005.
His family knew he was off camping but didn't know where.
He was often out of touch with family and friends for weeks or months when he went hiking, but he had always returned on time.
He had hiked extensively in Australia, New Zealand, India, Central America and much of the Western United States, including Yellowstone, Yosemite and the Grand Canyon.
