Details of Disappearance
Mathis was traveling in a vehicle with two individuals along Interstate 10 near Madison, Florida on March 9, 2002. He was last seen approximately three miles outside of Greenville, Florida during the evening hours. The vehicle was involved in a traffic accident near Madison at approximately 8:00 PM. Mathis disappeared by the time authorities arrived at the scene. A witness told investigators that she saw three people exit the vehicle shortly after the incident. Authorities questioned the two individuals who were traveling with Mathis, but they did not provide information regarding his whereabouts. He was wearing a purple and beige shirt, light purple shorts and blue / gray shoes at the time of his disappearance.
