Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance
Details of Disappearance
Barbara Miller, 30, of Sunbury, was last seen on July 1, 1989. Her boyfriend, former Sunbury police Detective Joseph Walter “Mike” Egan, dropped off Barbara Miller at a Milton bar on July 1 and was the last person to have seen her. He reported her as missing on July 4, 1989.
She was planning to attend the wedding of a friend in Mifflinburg. She may have gone missing from there.
Her son Eddie recalls reading anonymous letters sent to his mother with death and kidnapping threats from high-profile motorcycle gangs before her disappearance. Miller received several threats by mail accusing her of being a narcotics informant. She reported those threats to city police 15 days before she vanished. According to her son, Barbara Miller was going to inform police about drug trafficking.
A Northumberland County Judge declared Barbara Miller dead on October 10, 2002. Her killer and her body have never been found. Several searches for her remains since 1989 were unsuccessful.
