Mr. Miller was traveling to work. He stopped at a pull off to speak with or assist a motorist. It was the last time he was seen. His vehicle was recovered in Richmond, VA on December 14, 1983.
An extensive investigation was conducted by the Augusta County Sheriff’s Department along with other law-enforcement agencies. However, no trace of Mr. Miller was ever found.
In 2016 Charles Almond, Sr. was found guilty of first-degree murder in the 1983 disappearance of Richard "Pete" Miller, who was engaged to his step-daughter. The sentence was life in prison. The two had a heated argument a few months before Miller's disappearance.
