    Mary Rodermund was last seen as she went to a local drugstore and did not return home.

    The vehicle she had driven was located in the drug store parking lot.

    Her captor called her parents with a ransom demand and let her tell them she was all right. The Rodermunds never saw Mary Leah again.

    Robert Carl Hohenberger was a suspect in her disappearance. Hohenberger committed suicide when officers attempted to arrest him in Tacoma, Washington. Hohenberger was linked with the abduction, rape and murder of five Morgan City, Louisiana teenagers over a three-month period of 1978.
